TESTIMONY
Escaping stupid isn’t a one-time move—it’s a process. And that process is built on decisions.
Life comes at you fast. Temptation, pressure, bad ideas, wrong people, stupid opportunities—they’re everywhere. One of the smartest things you can do is decide ahead of time who you’re going to be and what you will and won’t do.
Pre-deciding what’s right before you ever step into a pressure-packed situation becomes a shield. A guardrail.
A lot of victories—or disasters—are set in motion long before the moment arrives.
Decision-making is a huge part of life. The better you get at making good decisions, the better your life tends to go. But among all the decisions you’ll ever make, the biggest one is this: What are you going to do with Jesus?
For me, that decision showed up right after I started college.
One Sunday morning in late September of my freshman year, I went to church mainly because I thought it would make some friends happy. Church wasn’t part of my world. Jesus wasn’t on my radar. I wasn’t searching for God. I wasn’t angry at Him either. I believed there was a God—He just didn’t matter much to me.
But that morning something happened that had never happened to me before.
While I was sitting there during the service, Jesus spoke to me. Not out loud where everyone could hear it, but deep inside—clear, direct, unmistakable. I know my own inner voice, and this wasn’t it.
He said, “John, if you will give your life to Me, you will find what you are looking for.”
Suddenly I was staring at a decision I never saw coming.
Do I give my life to Jesus… or not?
I didn’t know much about Him. I didn’t even know a person could actually know Him personally. I wasn’t looking for Him, but there He was—putting an offer right in front of me. Take it or leave it.
After a few minutes of wrestling with it, I took His offer. I repented of my sins—the wrong, stupid, selfish things I had done. I asked for His forgiveness and gave Him my life. I made Him my Lord, my boss, and my Savior. And it has turned out to be the biggest and best decision I have ever made.
That’s the short version of my story.
What’s yours?
Have you made the decision to trust Him with your life? Or are you not sure where you stand?
You can settle that right now. Just do what I did.
The Bible says:
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10
